Like walking on cushions
Like walking on cushions!I've worn New Balance for years so always order wide and a 1/2 size larger, which i did here.
perfect
Great fit, light weight. I was worried about the width because I bought a different Free Soldier pair that was a little more narrow. I normally wear a size 10.5 in New Balance but I forget that in other boots I always wear an 11. These boots are no different.
Great shoe. I am 73 and use them all ...
Great shoe. I am 73 and use them all day and for walking two miles each day in a park. Fit is great as were the 7's which I still wear when the 8's get wet. Unlike the four pairs of New Balance walking shoes I used to wear the soles on the Saucony cohesions have been staying on the shoes just fine. I wear size 13 E so sometimes they don't have them in the color I would prefer, so I buy them in whatever color is available in my size. People point and laugh but my feet feel fine so no prob.
My rating will be for the immediate time not long term.
Saucony 13 wide running shoes fit great. I use them for walking as I am 71. I do about one and a half miles a day partly in damp grass and the shoes need to hold up.Time will tell if they hold up better than several pairs of New Balance which all had a sole separation problem, not a wear problem as the uppers and soles show little wear. Amazon should sell a good water resistant shoe glue to help put these back together. the New Balance shoes were comfortable but when they start coming apart after only six months you wonder why they are still on the amazon site.
Hiked the John Muir Trail with these!
I used these shoes to hike the John Muir section of the Pacific Crest Trail after having problems with other shoes. I have 'wider than normal' feet and used custom high arch insoles with these shoes. I normally wear size 12, but used size 13 to allow my foot to expand during long days hiking. I bought this shoe primarily for the extra width, because I supinate (underpronation), and because it's super comfy when walking. Previously I've used Brooks Cascadias, Altra Lone Peaks, and various New Balance shoes. So how did these non-hiking shoes on the JMT/PCT? Better than I expected! I hiked up and down over trails and uneven/loose rocky terrain, through streams/rivers/creeks, and in snow with and without microspikes (see image). Traction was solid. The shoes remained comfortable throughout my hike for about 375 miles until the side of the left shoe ripped out. The shoes were wet for about 25% of the hike! Considering these shoes aren't really meant for hiking and the conditions I put them through, that's not that bad!I'll use these shoes again for lighter hiking and jogging. These shoes are so comfortable it felt like I was wearing slippers sometimes!Update 10/2016I hiked about 480 miles in a 2nd pair of these without any major problems. They remained comfortable throughout the hike, but the padding was mostly lost by the end of the hike. Holes appeared on both shoes where my large toe was located. A big note about these shoes - fine dust seems to get into the shoe even if you wear gaiters - if you hike or jog long distance in them, your socks and feet will likely be covered in dust. I'm ok with the dust and have just picked up a 3rd pair.
Pretty good sneakers
I bought these for my fourteen yr old son. Amazon had the best price by far on these shoes. They look good, and as always, the new balance wide width are comfortable for those with wide feet. The negative on this particular pair is that the tongue is a little funky and always wants to slide down further in the shoe than the usual. It wouldn't be a big deal, but these shoes tie up on the higher end, so the tongue slides below where they tie. Perhaps you could unlace them a bit and it would work out better, but so far my son has complained and I can easily see it would be uncomfortable.
What a difference
I am a big guy, 6'1" and 400 pounds, I get a new pair of shoes and within a few weeks I have crushed the soles on the outside causing great pain in my ankle/foot. With the xero shoe there is no deep sole to crush. These shoes do take some getting used to even coming from another brand, Altra, zero drop shoe. Needless to say being my size there are lots of areas that hurt when I go walking, back, knees hips. Once I wore the Xero shoes for about two weeks, approximately 80 - 90% of the time, knee and back pain are gone and my ankle/foot pains has decreased considerably. At this rate my pains will be gone and my walks will increase in frequency, duration and pace. I haven't put enough miles on them to determine if they will hold up but so far so good, about three weeks.I wear an 11 1/2 6E shoe in a New Balance, my Altras are 12.5 and are a bit tight in the toe box, My xeros are 13 and are also a bit tight in the toe box. After wearing them for three weeks I believe for my next Xero shoe purchase I will opt for the size 14s and hope the added size will include a bit more width. If Xero Shoes are listening a bit more width would be great. It is still not enough to not use these shoes. These shoes change the way you walk, improves your posture and even, for me, has improved my posture at my desk sitting in front of the computer.
