New Balance Makes Durable Shoes

I have tried many shoes during my lifetime but I keep coming back to New Balance for comfort, functionality, and durability. These ML574's are another in a long line of quality athletic shoes. I like the comfort. There are no "hot spots" in the shoe, and they feel very comfortable when I walk or run. The shoe is made of durable materials. The leather side panels and toe guard give protection and support to the foot, and the toe strap prevents the big toe from coming through the top of the shoe (a faulty design seen in many running shoes). The tread is not excess, so the shoe has functional comfort. My last pair went for 7 years before having to be replaced, and I expect these will do the same. I will purchase another pair of these now because I like them so much! Kone

Great color to add to the collection. Own roughly 15 different pairs of New Balance 574s, currently. Have received many comments on the color from people. Make sure to spray with water proof/stain resistance before wearing to ensure long dirt free life. Would recommend to anyone looking for a colorful sneaker. Order a half size larger than you would normally wear as the shoe seems to run small.

The New Balance 574 Backpack is a different animal

The first time I saw the "Backpack" line of shoes from New Balance, I knew that I'd one day be adding a pair to my collections of 574's. Nylon uppers just seems like a fantastic idea, since nylon is so easy to clean and keep clean. I liked the idea of being able to get them dirty, knowing that they'll clean up better then other 574's. Because of this, I might even wear them when I normally wouldn't want to get my shoes dirty.I haven't had them long enough to make that decision, or know exactly how well they'll clean up, but there is something else different about them that immediately caught my attention. Ever since New Balance changed the manufacturing process for the 574's, I think they've been smaller and less comfortable then versions before that time. I just purchased another pair of 574's a couple of weeks back and noticed this immediately when putting them on, as I always do with a new pair of 574's nowadays.This pair, however, feels more like the older 574's, because they're so comfortable. My first thought was that maybe they made them like the old ones, but after comparing them to numerous other pairs I have, both old and new, I don't think that's it. The soles still match the newer version (i.e. they're more narrow), but still, I'm pretty sure they have more toe room in the uppers, because they both look and feel as if they do.I've been a little disappointed with every pair I've purchased, since they changed the manufacturing process, because they're just not as comfortable as they used to be. For whatever reason, these, however, seem closer to what I remember a new pair feeling like and that has me really happy. They are very comfortable shoes.

for now nice looking ...

I just got them so i can only tell about the sizing. They run a little bigger than usual. I ordered two pairs, 8 and 9, because of my recent experience with another pair, M574, I bought that runs too small. In this pair size 8 is a little big -not much- but if I order 8 probably it will be small. Size 9 was too big. These, M730v2, are made in Vietman while the others, NB574, are made in Indonesia (if that makes any difference, no idea). If you want cushion don't get them because the sole is very thin. In my opinion it is fine for walking, going to the beach, working out at the gym, but I will not recommend them for running specially if it a hard surface. New Balance should specify if they run small or large ... or better they should stick to the standard sizing.

suprised...

I have been wearing New Balance for years on the recommendation of my podiatrist. Started with the 990 or 991 and have upgraded every year as they "new and improved" the sneaker. I have always found them to be a long lasting, nice fitting (room in the toe area) with some arch support sneaker.THIS is the first time I have had to return a new balance due to size.I am a straight up 6 1/2 and could barely get my foot into this sneaker. I have never had this happened with a New Balance. Two of the things I love about them is they don't squish my toes and I have always been able to order online without trying them on first.Ultimatley I do recommend the sneaker however, if you are looking at this style, and can find it locally, try it on before ordering. Amazon usually has the best price but it stinks to have to return and then reorder especially if you have to pay postage each way...there goes the savings.

The best tennis shoe I've every worn.

As a counter to bwak's impression of the M990v3, I wanted to share my thoughts on this shoe. (bwak mentions ankle surgeries which make make him or her more sensitive to aspects of the shoe that I can't appreciate.) I too have been wearing New Balance 99X shoes for years. They've always been my favorite shoe due to their comfortable fit. I wear a pair of them about 90% of the time. Some events call for something other than these gray beauties unfortunately.When I went to order my latest pair of New Balance 993's, I saw this new improved version. I was skeptical of an upgrade to my shoe of choice, but completed the order anyway. Happily, the new model _did_ live up to the promise in my opinion. (Regarding the name, saying "M990v3" is sort of a mouthful, though.) Compared to the 993's, they feel a bit lighter, but just barely. Perhaps it's better stitching or slightly higher grade materials. I can't put my finger on it. One noticeable upgrade are the laces which are a bit narrower and thicker on this shoe than the 993. Basically, I can't actually pin point a defining difference of this shoe vs. the 993's. Whatever NB has done though, these shoes feel just right to me. This shoe is my new "shoe."

Running Shoes for soldiers

One of the most exciting running shoe concepts to come long in years. No one category of our population puts more miles on running shoes than the US Military. Available in all miitary service livery models - the New Balance 993 military series should be a hot item for some time to come.New Balance has been an American made running shoe that I've worn since they were available in Military Exchanges in the late 1980's/early 1990s. Being flat footed and pronating is not a good combination for a military career. My feet gave me problems with most running shoes I purchased until I found the New Balance 99x series. Can't remember how many pairs worn out over the years. Now retired - the comfort these shoes brought make me a lifetime customer.When an internet e-mail notice informed me of this model's introduction I was eager to buy a pair that proudly indicated my Army legacy. This model is sold out at Post Exchanges for a 3 month period June/Aug 2011 so I went elsewhere to purchase them.They look sharp and do not disappoint the pronating runner - keeping the New Balance Heritage for yet another generation of military runners. Still too new for me to know how well they wear over time - I'm hoping my overall experience and those of others will keep New Balance American workers employed for many years to come.

Helpful after broken ankle

I broke my ankle this summer and it has been a long road to recovery. Once I was able to start wearing shoes again, I discovered it was difficult to find shoes that would support my ankle, give good arch support, and be comfortable at the same time. I have a plate and 8 screws in the side of the ankle, so I need shoes that are supportive without irritating the area around the screws.The New Balance W990 shoes are a perfect fit. They have great arch support, and I feel secure wearing them when I walk. The side around my ankle is just the right height for support without irritation. The shoes also "breathe" well, so my feet do not get hot when I wear them all day.I highly recommend these shoes!

New Balance seems to be lower quality than it once was

My son has had numerous pairs of NB shoes, and recently they just have not held up like they used to. This shoe is the only shoe my son can wear with his school uniform. He's gone through 3 pairs of 990's since August, and could have gone through a fourth. On the laced version, the eyeholes don't hold up and the area near the tongue gets frayed. He's had this "hook and loop" pair for only a few weeks, and they already look like they've been to Hades and back. Young boys are tough on shoes, but NB used to hold up better.
