Great shoes, but not a New Balance fit.
New Balance usually run small, but these shoes are true to size, I'm a 9 and normally wear a 9 1/2 in New Balance, but these are a bit loose on me. Not so bad that I'll be returning them, but next time I get a pair of Dunhams I'll get my normal size 9. Overall, super comfortable, soft insoles, really nice shoes.
These run wider than "normal" New Balance shoes
My husband loves NB for his large, hard-to-fit feet. Usually, he's a 13 4E, so naturally this is the size I selected in buying these boots for him. When they arrived (this size took longer to ship due to a point of origin in Canada, but it wasn't "forever"), these boots looked comically large. My husband put them on and said the only parts of the boot touching his foot were the sole and the ankle - very unusual. He demonstrated by pressing the shoe around his foot, and the difference was appreciable. SO, we returned the 13-4E's and got 13-2E's instead...and they fit perfectly.<br /><br />We had no hassles in getting the refund processed and getting the original pair returned. I can buy with confidence from Amazon - they are so great about their return policies.<br /><br />I'll put in a separate review for the pair that fit my husband. I only docked one star for the off-sizing - other than that these boots are stellar.

Never purchased this brand before but I am impressed with these shoes. I like them better than similar New Balance trail shoes that I have owned. These cost a bit more but they are worth it IMO.

New Balance Men's MO1500 Outdoor Shoe
At 68, my normally go-anywhere, do-anything, size 9.5 EE feet started talking back. Shoe size changes with age, and when I retired and started hiking in Arizona's rocky Santa Catalina Mountains, I learned that the fine boots I had backpacked comfortably in 25 years ago were too narrow. Th old boots were too narrow, and I soon had developed a painful bunion. Finding good hiking boots in EE width is not simple, so when I spotted these New Balance boots online, I was cautiously optimistic. I was also skeptical, because New Balance had not been a major player in the serious hiking boot market. A rave review in Backpacker Magazine convinced me to give them a try. The helpful reviews by other users frequently noted that the boots ran narrow, so I ordered EEEE. I wear medium weight hiking socks, and the new boots were snug at first. But since then, they have adjusted perfectly to my feet. I've worn them constantly for the last year as I trained to do what for me was a major hike up to the top of Mt. Lemmon from Catalina State Park. We did that 6,500 foot climb about a week ago, and the boots were outstanding companions. The steep Sutherland Trail (see the description on HikeArizona.com) is littered with sharp rock of all sizes. No problem for these babies with their tough Vibram soles. They're lightweight, so they don't wear you out, and after a year of constant hiking, they are hardly the worse for wear. A little dusty looking, but that's all. I should note that I put a pair of SuperFeet insoles in them early on, and the combination was perfect. But while the boots show no serious signs of wear, I think the SuperFeet are due for replacement. I'm so grateful to find a quality boot that fits that I can't complain about the expense of renewing the insoles. I highly recommend these boots with one caveat. Given that I had to buy EEEE to fit my EE feet. I don't think they would be right for hikers with true EEEE or wider feet. New Balance should size these boots more accura
Another satisfactory New Balance purchase!
This is my fourth pair of New Balance sneakers over about a ten year time span. I am never disappointed. Their products are stylish, fit well, offer good support, and last a long time. Sizes tend to be on the small size however, so order a half size larger than you normally would. I also prefer the wide widths.<br /><br />I purchased this model for looks more than anything else and I'm happy with the purchase. I get lots of complements. One thing about NB shoes though is that they have quite a long break-in period. I don't wear my sneakers every day; perhaps only a couple or three times a week, so I have found that it takes a good six months for them to be truly comfortable on me. After that, it's like going barefoot!
