847v3..New Balance...simply the best!
This is by far the best walking shoe made today. I walk 3 miles each morning, 52 weeks each year with 2 white/yellow labs while wearing this shoe. I wear the black pair on rainy days and the white pair on clear days. I replace them every 6-7 months!
At last another last to challenge the New Balance SL2 last
)<br /><br />I was particular impressed with the build quality, they are very well made. The footbed while nothing to write home about sit on top of a foam bed sewing smoothly into the base of the shoe. The inside of the shoe is lined so there are no ridges apart from at the very tip of the toe where the liner is sew.<br /><br />The actual heel counter is very stiff compared to the NB MW926 but less stiff than the Propet Vista Walker Oxford's however it is reinforced by another construct ( labeled "stability guide" ) resulting in excellent stability.

I've been wearing these shoes every day for a couple of months now. I suffer from foot problems as well as having a bad knee. These are the only shoes I have found that I can wear comfortably, especially to walk around in all day long. I have changed my rating to 5 stars on the comfort level alone.
New Balance is the go-to for wide feet!
I’ve been wearing these for about two weeks and I am happy with them. They are comfortable, supportive and fit is as expected for the 2E width. My feet get a bit warm because these don’t seem to breath much but that’s not a big deal.<br /><br />I will say that the shoelaces don’t stay tied, even if you double knot them. My NB running shoes are the same way...but that’s just a minor irritant that can be solved by replacing the laces.

These shoes are phenomenally supportive and durable ! I have high arches and these shoes support my high arches fantastically. I work in a library and am on my feet all day. I am very satisfied with these walking shoes!
New Balance shoe sizing
Well I read most of the reviews that Amazon had on there website pertaining to these New Balance Mens MW978 shoes. And all of the reviews were pretty much right on the mark in regards to New Balance sizing of there shoes. I have been wearing New Balance shoes now for a couple of years. I had to switch over to New Balance because they are one of the very few who makes a 4 EE shoe.<br />My actual foot size is a 121/2 4EE width, so I always buy a size 13 because they fit so well. And these New Balance MW978 shoes, feel a slight smaller in size than previous New Balance shoes I own. I notice that I only have about a 1/4 of an inch between my big toe and the end of the shoe. So my only option at this point is to either wear them this way or move up to a size 14, because they don't make a 131/2 size. So will probably keep the 13 shoe size in this particular shoe I have because I fear the size 14 won't fit as well all around for my 121/2 shoe size.<br /> Now I bought these for winter shoes because of the leather and gore-tex lining, and know from past experience of wearing good quality leather work boots for work that my feet to have a tendency to sweat. So I will have to wait till the weather turns rainy and cold before I can give these New Balance MW978 shoe a good overall review.
This is as comfortable as all my other New Balance shoes
First time with velcro closures. This is as comfortable as all my other New Balance shoes. Had surgery and difficult tying shoes so thought I'd try these. Glad I did.

I always buy New Balance shoes because they offer a 4E width. This is a new style shoe for me, and it seems as if the lasts the shoe was built on are a tiny bit smaller than before. I'm seeing if they break in over a couple of weeks before I come to a final decision on the size.
New Balance comfort as usual.
I bought these for long days on my feet birding. My last pair of New Balance walking shoes are very comfortable, but I wear them at work, so I don't want to get them all dirty. So, I bought these and I really like them a lot. I wear them all the time. These seem well-built, at least by today's standards, and I'll say it again, very comfortable. I might be switching from Merrell to New Balance for everyday shoes.

Nice fit. break in took only a couple of days. Good quality. Would like a little more cushioning in the heel. going to try changing the insert to boost the padding. The narrow heel keeps my feet from moving in the shoe. will use these as work shoe, I walk 15 minutes each way.

Better than New Balance Fresh Foam?
Very comfortable. Runs wider than would be expected. Easy to slip on without undoing laces. I don't feel they're completely suited for running, they great for light aerobic workouts, and for walks.
